Take Time to Celebrate

I used to think a lot of celebrations were over-rated. Now, I think my nonchalant attitude is over-rated. It started with weddings. My father convinced me otherwise. Then I moved to office parties, but my communications professor convinced me otherwise.

Celebrations are important. Several close friends will be graduating this upcoming weekend, and that is a big deal. Don't take it lightly. It is an accomplishment that calls for a ceremony. It is taking a moment to reflect all the hard work it took to get your diploma. It is allowing your family and friends to see that you reached one of your goals because of their support. Make them happy by letting them see you happy.

Like I said earlier, my communications professor helped me realize the importance of celebrating. It was a brief discussion. With a straight face, she said one of the class's discussion topics for the day will be office parties. I thought that was funny, but she was serious. I found it strange to talk about parties in a communications class, but it makes perfect sense to do that! Celebrations are a way of communicating your accomplishments, your joy, and your thankfulness.

With that said, I'm excited to be a part of so many celebrations this upcoming weekend.

Dedicated or Stupid?

That's what I kept asking myself as I drove to class in ice and snow after work this evening. After my hour and a half drive home, I've decided that it was more stupid than dedicated. It was basically my car and a bunch of Mr. Plow's out on the road tonight. I had to stop twice because my windshield wipers iced to the point where I couldn't see.

I do admit, I'm glad I got the study materials for my test next week. Also, because this was the worst weather I've driven in, the driving experience was good for me. I'm sure this is just the beginning of the cold weather.

In the spirit of my Thanksgiving leftover dinner I'm indulging in, I'd like to share what I am thankful for tonight:
1. That I don't drive a badass Nissan 350Z.
2. That I don't drive a stick shift.
3. That I have a carport.

A Drink of Heaven

"It's like drinking a dream" as my friend put it once. Yes, I'm talking about Starbucks drinks. For me, it is a white chocolate mocha for the fall and winter seasons and a caramel frap for the spring and summer seasons. Both with whipped cream, of course. How posh do I sound already? I can't help what I like.

It was an interesting evening of reading and people watching. Despite the steady rain, people flowed in and out of the coffee shop. The angry businessman at the table in front of me made interesting entertainment. With 7 Starbucks cups cluttered on his table, he sported a laptop and bluetooth earbud. Furthermore, he kept getting refills. Perhaps he started a bar tab at Starbucks? It looked like an expensive one. I wonder where he works? I gathered he dealt with real estate and is in some level of management. A twenty something guy sat behind me reading a book quietly. I wonder what he was reading?

Most others came in pairs. Pairs of friends. Pairs of boyfriends and girlfriends. Pairs of parents and children. The most interesting pair was a pair of friends studying in the back. A guy and girl reading and conversing diligently. Reminds me of well... me in my "old" college days. I wonder what they were studying, what they hope to be, and if they'll become what they hoped for? I'm rooting for them, anyway.

Then I thought, "I bet most people here are doing the same thing as I am- people watching, and that includes me!" What do they think I'm reading? How do others guess what my life is like? I know I make up life stories about strangers. My life may be full of adventures I'm unaware of. Needless to say, I'm looking forward to my next trip to Starbucks.

The Chiefs vs the Raiders

Between getting the 24-hr flu and driving home for Thanksgiving, I now have a chance to sit and write about my first NFL game experience. You probably have guessed that going to a Kansas City Chiefs game is awesome! The Chiefs fans are known for their tailgating. With their grills and impressive flag poles set-up in the parking lot, the fans know how to do it right. My group and I tailgated before AND after the game and still had leftovers. I had the best 1" pork chops ever with cheesy poofs.

The game was exciting with a Chiefs win against their rival, the Raiders, with a final score of 17-13. My favorite part, however, was the surprise fly-over of the B2 stealth bomber during the national anthem performance. That was absolutely breath-taking.

The B2 is in the upper-right corner of this picture on its way to Arrowhead Stadium. I didn't take this photo, though. I was too mesmerized and too engaged in the whole experience.


This was my view, and I had a great seat on the second level. My friend insists we'll get front row tickets next season for a game of my choice. I think that's a great idea.

Stepping Into MySpace

No I haven't, but I'm thinking about it! I've actually been meaning to join MySpace for awhile now. I have a handful of friends on MySpace, instead of facebook, that I would like to keep in touch with better. So what's been holding me back for the following months from joining MySpace?

1. When I pull up a MySpace page, I feel like I've just walked into a casino: overwhelmed. There are flashing banners, music, busy wallpapers, and moving pictures. I am still accustomed to the simple document style of facebook. I'm sure the MySpace format just requires getting used to it.

2. It's one more login. I keep asking myself do I want to have one more thing to check? I already check 3 e-mail accounts, facebook, blogger, and webct regularly. That's before I begin surfing the net. How much more should I tie myself to my pc?

3. How comfortable am I about posting more information about myself online? The more time I spend online, the more comfortable I get with revealing more information about myself without realizing it.

Perhaps one day I'll join the MySpace craze. For now, I'll spend my time going out... or uh... writing in my blog.

Warmer Days

The temperature is 37 degrees F with a windchill of 28 degrees F right now. This combined with the fact that I wake up to a sunless morning just to leave work with the sun already fallen has made me think of wamer days...

This was when I ran track for Corporate Challenge for my first time this past summer in KC. I have never eaten so healthy for 2 weeks in my life as I did while I prepared for my track events. I also learned that running relays is nerve-wracking, especially running against the Cerner team. The Cerner team should really consider quitting their day jobs and trying out for the U.S. Olympic track team. I think they have a good chance for the gold.

This is a picture of me taking a picture. I actually like this picture better than the one I took. This was my summer excursion to Stillwater. My fond memories of the Student Union mostly revolved around food: Chick-Fil-A and pancakes. In the old days, Chick-Fil-A AND Burger King served the many hungry students of OSU on campus, but I guess those are off-campus now.


Here's me picking out some peaches at downtown KC's City Market. Can you find me? It's like finding Waldo, except my shirt's not as cool. I loved going to city markets and even had a chance to check out Overland Park's city market before the summer ended.

I'm glad I got all my warm, summer memories out of my system now. I'm ready for the cold. Bring it on.

Livin' On Tulsa Time

I kicked off my weekend in Tulsa with the 5k Tulsa Run. The morning was very cold, but gradually warmed up toward the end of the race. One suggestion for improvement is the bus system that takes the runners from the parking lots to the starting line. My brother and I waited for 45 minutes without getting on a bus. We decided to run to the starting line instead, which was about a mile away. We got to the start with 3 minutes to spare, just enough to catch our breaths. The picture above is at the beginning of the run. I'm in the middle with the black outfit.

On the drive back from the race, I stopped to take a picture of the fall trees.

How many characters can you name out of the picture above? I admit I can name two: Meredith Grey and Dr. McDreamy (but knowing that answer was school related). Grey's Anatomy has been a huge hit in the U.S., but it hasn't tapped into my tv schedule. I simply prefer other shows. What I find interesting is my exclusion in conversations because I don't watch the show. Here is what happens:

Friend: Hey... did you see this week's Grey's Anatomy?

Me: No.

Friend: But you watch it, right?

Me: No.

Friend: Oh. Nevermind. *Silence*

I think it's funny, but this has happened to me at least three times this past month. Crazy.

Angels & Airwaves

Optimistic. Influential. Mature. Angels & Airwaves has not disappointed this Blink 182 fan. Tom DeLonge who founded Blink 182 and now Angels & Airwaves has really shown himself through his music. Most songs begin softly with just enough notes for you to anticipate the upcoming musical crescendos and the lyrics' story. As a husband and father, DeLonge's lyrics voice a tone of affection and concern with topics of relationships and war. Profanity is also reserved for his angrier songs showing how he has grown to control his music instrumentally and lyrically. This is definitely worth checking out. I Thought I Didn't Look Good in Hats

I wore four hats today; my employee hat, my student hat, my friend hat, and my family hat. This cute cliché of saying hats to express the many roles people play everyday is a reality. I am learning that juggling these roles becomes more difficult as I undertake more responsibilities in each of these categories of my life. It’s really all an equation anyway.

Employee + Student + Friend + Family = Me

So, you probably just felt a big cheese ball hit your forehead. Yes, it’s cheesy, but it will prove my point. I am a constant. I have limits on my capability and time to fulfill these roles. The quality of each of these roles can fluctuate, but another role (or variable) will have to inversely change with it. There will be times when I spend more time at work, but will cause me to spend less time on school or socializing.

This leads us into a discussion of prioritization. I would like to claim that I choose family first, but, in practice, maybe I’m speaking from a soapbox. I had a sobering moment tonight when I was talking to my dad about plans for the weekend before Halloween. I know that’s the next weekend I’ll be able to return home, yet, if my parents didn’t NEED me home, I’d rather join my friends at a huge costume party in downtown. From my microscopic view, I think this is a tough decision. From a macroscopic view, the answer is obvious to me. I should go home. I don’t doubt the party will be fun. It might even be legendary among my friends here, but most parties are fleeting moments and only a few will truly be remembered. The question is if I look back 10 years even 5 years from now, will I regret more skipping the party or a visit home? After my casual conversation with my dad on the phone, I realized my Family variable was not reflected the way I intended it to in my equation since I’ve moved away. I’m glad I’m catching it early on, and I hope to continue to weigh my variables according to my priorities.

Disconnected by Being Connected

Why is it so difficult to meet people? I hear this from friends, from reading articles written by twenty and thirty -somethings, and somewhat experiencing it myself. You would think that the internet would connect people more, but then why are all the dating services gaining popularity? Perhaps the internet is beneficial to keeping existing contacts and not creating new ones. Perhaps the time spent in front of computers is costing the time people would spend outside socializing and physically meeting others. I still find it puzzling that the communication channels have widened so extensively, yet people are having a harder time meeting new people. A large factor is the changing social mindset. A great push for a successful career has left other aspects of life on the curb. Personal expectations have also left this generation wanting more of everything. I'm not advocating lowering your standards, but in general, this generation has demanded and received. This idea has propogated to our relationships. The demand for someone who does everything is preferable.

So it seems that the changing social aspects and psychology distances people from one another, and the networking power of technology can't keep up. Then again, there's no substitute to meeting someone face-to-face.

I always try to even things out in the end. I think it's nice for the guy to pay at first, but I don't like to think that I owe people anything in the end. I'm curious because I don't know how other girls handle these situations, and I don't know how guys prefer it.

GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today was the end of the 2006 World Cup. Italy took the gold home! Zidane had an upsetting, yet entertaining, moment of aggression, and I learned a few new things about soccer.

The best thing about watching soccer is how the soccer players go full throttle and still move so agilely. The fans are always great too. It's great how they stay until the end of the game, regardless of how their team is performing. It's different in the U.S. It's typical for people to leave during half-time of a football game (the American kind of football). I've been guilty of doing that. I thought it was just poor sportsmanship for awhile, but then I realized the Americans typically go to sports game not for the sport but for the social aspect. Usually, a sports game gives a group of friends something to do, and when this group gets bored they go do something else.

Now, I just have to wait for another 4 years to enjoy another World Cup game.

Choose Your Adventure

Given a choice to participate in any reality tv show, what would you choose? American Idol? Real World? The Bachelor? America's Top Chef? Survivor?

I would definitely choose The Amazing Race. What a great adventure! Traveling and challenges, but I wonder who I would go with? Pairing up as a couple would be a true relationship test (and finding the right guy is a challenge enough ;) ). Pairing up with a best friend might work better. A family member is a good option too. Whatever the relationship, this person has to have a great attitude and lots of enthusiasm. It would be a real test of myself too! I think I'll start training now.

Eating Trends


I've recently noticed a trend when I eat out with friends. I'm usually known as a slow eater. This isn't always the case, though! I'm usually the last one to finish my entree, but the first to finish my dessert. This was the case tonight. I had the best bananas foster ever. The waitress made it at tableside as well, making the experience very entertaining. Wow, that was delicious!

lol... so many things I can say here. Let's just start with I don't want to be the best friend forever.
2. Forget past setbacks and seize the day?
I think that has to do with attitude. I've been fine in this department. I'm going to try to keep things into perspective while I'm out into the real world, which tends to dampen people's spirits at times.
3. Seeks opportunities and possibilities?
That's what I'm doing at work.
4. Keep a keen eye on finances?
I probably need some work on this, but I'm saving most of my money. Saving to pay for my loans!
5. New friends and closer relationships?
I think this is definitely true, and I couldn't ask for a better year for this to happen. I've made some great new friends here who have made my moving transition much easier to cope with. On the flip side, I have become a lot closer to friends that now live too far away.

Bueno is Better than Good



So, I drove back to Tulsa this weekend thinking, "I've got to get a potato burrito from Bueno this weekend. I've got to get a potato burrito from Bueno this weekend... " for 4 hours. Well, not quite 4 hours, but the moral of the story is that I didn't! Now, the memories of this potato burrito that I fell in love with 6 years ago are haunting me.

I broke down and decided to stop by Taco Bell for its "equivalent" potato burrito (since there's no Taco Bueno in this whole city that takes up 2 states!!!). I drive up to the drive thru:

Taco Beller: Welcome to Taco Bell. What can I get for you today?
Me: I'd like a crunchy burrito, please.
Taco Beller: A what?
Me: (showing a hint of angst) A crunchy burrito.
Taco Beller: A supreme burrito?
Me: No! A crunchy burrito or maybe you call it a potato burrito here too. (a pause) ::sigh:: Do you have anything with potatoes in it?
Taco Beller: No.
Me: Okay. I'd like a bean and cheese burrito. That's it. Thank you. :(

There's something about going home. Home is like a retreat from the world. It's a place I can recenter myself and a way I can recalibrate to who I am again before going back to the daily grind of life. A trip home makes me appreciate the simple adventures and helps me focus on what I need to do. Sometimes all the motivation I need comes from home.

If time is money, why are you just sitting there?

How a person spends their spare time determines the kind of person they are. What they do for entertainment reflects their personality, character, motivation, and so much more. The entertainment industry is constantly evolving, and what traps are you falling into? I wonder sometimes if everyone has taken it too far. From bungee jumping to bug eating, I wonder if people have really exhausted the traditional methods of entertainment and turned to such bizarre adventures.

Of course, it is good for new ideas to circulate and for people to try new things, but what about the simple entertainments? I think people have a habit of going out ALL THE TIME. People go out to eat, see movies, and drink... all the time. Sometimes is fine, but when I meet someone who enjoys the simple things, like reading or art or building, the person stands out of the crowd in my mind. It shows a determination in self-improvement.

I'm still having this battle. It's so easy and tempting to agree to go out with the buddies, even though I may have a great book waiting for me at home. I just have to remind myself of the pros and cons. How will going out improve myself? In my experience, nights out on the town are fleeting, but literature is something that will stick in my mind for the better.

I'm Where the Bunnies Roam

Where was I? At the bunny slopes, of course! It's difficult to believe, but I went skiing right here in Missouri. Here's a picture of the slopes (the bunny slope is on the right and the more advanced slope is on the left):


It's snow from a machine, but it works. No good for building a snowman, though. Skiing is a must try. I finally understand how people can become so involved with the sport. It's quite a free feeling going down the slope. I do admit that trying to stand up from a fall on skis can be really challenging, but here's a picture when I was actually standing.

The group I went with was so incredibly helpful, and that made all the difference. I would definitely go again.

Zumba was awesome at the Colvin. I thought I'd have to resort to cheesy zumba videos (shown above) when I moved to KC, but no, no I was wrong! Thank goodness. I saw an article in the newspaper discussing the growing popularity of zumba, and the article advertised some locations that had zumba classes. Now, it's time to check them out! Yay!

A Lost Art

A co-worker asked me what I've been doing in Kansas City. He's an older man, and I thought he wanted to make sure I've been keeping myself busy and not sitting at home bored. I had the typical answer, "Oh, I played poker with some friends... I've just been hanging out." That's the answer people usually expect and are satisfied with. He gave me a strange look, almost a disapproving one. He segued through some of his personal experiences. By the end of my conversation with him, I understood why he had that reaction. He was suggesting I spend my time wiser than I have been.

His appreciation of Vietnamese art led him to a life lesson epiphany. There's a saying in Vietnamese, "Cam Ky Thi Hoa" (this is without the accent marks, of course). In English, it roughly translates into, "Music Strategy Academics Art." Usually, a series of four wall panels of scenes expresses this saying, for example:
The first panel would have an image of an old guitar.
The second panel would have an image of a chess board.
The third panel would have an image of a book, and
the fourth panel would have an image of a sculpture.

He said that he had always enjoyed that piece of art and its message. The panels showed the aspects of a well-rounded person.

Later in life, he saw a similar series of four wall panels conveying the same message. Instead:
The first panel showed an image of a couple playing instruments with eachother.
The second panel showed the couple playing chess with one another.
The third panel showed the couple reading poetry to one another, and
the fourth panel showed the woman painting while the man was sculpting.

At that point, he realized that life is more rewarding with a mate, and those four panels describes interests a couple should share in order to grow together. The panels represent topics that offer endless exploration that challenge the couple and allows them to learn from each other. Another insight he expressed was that no other people were incorporated into those scenes. This suggests that once the right two people find eachother with those similar interests, the opinions of others become obsolete.

My initial thought was, "Now, how in the world can I find a guy like that? That sounds like I'm looking for a Renaissance Man, and I can't even find one that remembers my birthday." Then I realized that I haven't even developed all those aspects. My co-worker was indirectly suggesting I should spend my time developing those skills, and furthermore, find someone who can share my love of music, critical reasoning, academics, and art.

This was a prime example of stopping to smell the roses. I wonder what happened to that in this world sometimes. Appreciation is a lost art. Rarely do I see someone at the museum truly focused on a painting or a sculpture or a photograph. Most just walk around slowly, walk out, and say they went to the museum. It takes time, reading, thinking, and connecting with the work of art to appreciate it. I'm not saying I do that, but it's something I need to improve about myself.

A Different Perspective Inside the Cubicle

Dilbert is sitting in MY desk. Unfortunately though, I don't have a cute, little Dogbert sitting next to the computer mouse, but everything else looks about right. I never thought Dilbert comics were very funny. Not even after 3 years of internships in the office, but something happened to me today. I don't know what it was. It's only my second day, and I've found two Dilbert comics hilarious! HAHAHA....uhh...ehh... I'm afraid. I have to resist the corporate mindset and corporate humor. At least keep a good balance of it with reality. I need to make sure I still find normal things funny, not just Dilbert comics and Office Space.

I shouldn't... but I'm going to... share a Dilbert comic with you!!!

(Lady walks to a balding guy sitting at his desk with a cup of coffee in his hand.)
Lady: Hi, handsome. Are you free for lunch?
Guy: Are you selling something, or do you have a horrible defect that isn't apparent?
Lady: Is it so hard to believe that a hot, intelligent, sane woman would be attracted to a man like you?
Guy: GAA!!! It's worse than I thought!
(Guy starts shaking and chattering his teeth.)
Lady: Maybe we could just drink coffee and talk about the last episode of battle-star galactica.
Guy: GAAA!!! Get away from me, you perfect monster!
(Guy turns around and fiercely runs away. Lady walks away.)
Lady: There must be a guy in the engineering department who will date me.
(Lady approaches Dilbert.)
Lady: Hi.
Dilbert: What's wrong with you?

Super Bowl... of Pho

Ha! I wish! Pho! Yum! I did watch the ENTIRE Super Bowl for the first time today. Not for the commercials, but for the game and the company. I even learned what a touch-back is. It's when team A kicks the ball, usually at the 4th down, to team B's end zone and the ball reaches the end zone. Team B then starts at the 20 yard line. The team I was cheering for (the Steelers) won too! Too bad I didn't have any bets going. I could've struck gold.

I Need a Parka

I rolled into Kansas City yesterday afternoon. When I left from Tulsa, I thought, "It's chilly but a coat would be too much." When I stopped at a gas station and got out of the car in Kansas, it was freezing! Windy and cold. Pikachu, who was sitting in the passenger's seat, didn't like the cold either.

I ended up watching a few movies with some of my work buddies last night. It's probably in your best interest to know that the movie Red Eye is a waste of time. I recommend using the hour and a half staring at your feet instead or perhaps making silly faces in the mirror. On a better note, Four Brothers was a good movie with a good plot. Transporter 2 had some really cool fighting scenes, though any of those tricks would be realistically impossible making it a bit funny. It's still a cool movie.

After all that movie watching, it was still cold outside. I need to find a heated coat.

Closing Time

Closing Time by Semisonic will always remind me of Murphy's on Stillwater's Strip. You know, it's the song the bar plays to signify it's time to start packing up and go home. For the ones who still ignore the hints to get out, the lights are turned off in the bar.

A college town bar is difficult to beat. I probably wouldn't even like bars if it wasn't for college. It's very unique to walk into a bar and be surrounded with people close in age as you and with similar backgrounds. The best part is bumping into friends, since it is a small town. My top three places to go are Stonewalls, Joe's, and Murphy's, each with it's own type of atmosphere and crowd. It's too bad it takes two days of quality hair washing to get the smoke smell out after a night at Stonewalls, though.

I am not a regular bar hopper. That's what made my experiences there so great. When I did go, it was with the right people and for the right occasions.

One Reason I Love the U.S.

Restaurants in the U.S. have huge food portions and asking for a take home box is acceptable. I love that. No one likes to leave a restaurant hungry. Refills are free too. It's a different story in Europe. There's a line on the drinking glass where the server will pour to, stop, and never come back, so you better ration your drink. We definately have it nice here.

California Adventures

I spoiled myself with an entire week in Southern California.

Day 1, Sunday:
My best friend (my Navy friend, like the military not the color) and her fiance picked me up from the airport. It was one of the most memorable arrivals. I was so happy to see her run down the escalator to give me a great, big hug. The rest of the day was spent hanging out and watching TV together, which is what we do best.

Day 2, Monday:
I met up with an old friend from TX, and we teamed up to discover San Diego. We went to the Old Town where we browsed around the little shops. The day got even better when we spent the evening watching the sunset at Coronado Beach.


Day 3, Tuesday:
My TX friend and I rocked the San Diego Zoo. I love koalas and pandas. I was lucky enough to see one of the koalas eating, since they usually sleep all day. That evening, I persisted to hassle my best friend's fiance (who grew up in Australia) to tell me personal stories about koalas. My Navy friend and I cooked dinner too (she made up the recipe), and it turned out great!


Day 4, Wednesday:
My Navy friend and I crossed the border to Tijuana, Mexico where we enjoyed 3 tacos for $1. I learned that a spritz of lemon on food does wonders to the flavors. I got to haggle for the first time too when I was buying my sis a shotglass. I got it for two bucks and a hug apparently. I probably had the most uncomfortable expression when I found out he wasn't kidding about the hug.

Day 5, Thursday:
My Navy friend's and her fiance's favorite radio station dj was going to be at Margarita Rocks, a dance club, that night. It was the first time I drank alcohol with my Navy friend. I have to admit, it was pretty cool to hang out with a bunch of sailors.

Day 6, Friday:
This was the special day I was reunited with Hot Dog on a Stick. Cheese on a stick is delicious. Enough said.


Day 7, Saturday:
Los Angeles!... and somehow I brought rain with me. This changed plans a bit, but I had a great time shopping at the Grove and eating at the Farmer's Market.

Day 8, Sunday:
This was a BIG day. I got to see the famous Hollywood sign high in the mountains. I was told that the sign had fresh paint as a gift for its centennial celebration. It was supposed to be brighter paint than before. It looked clear to me! I also walked along the Hollywood Walk of Fame. I learned that there are several categories a person can earn a spot on this sidewalk, which explains why some people had more than one star. I also noticed the blank spots on the sidewalk for upcoming celebrities...hmm... maybe if this engineering thing doesn't work out. Disneyland and California Adventures Theme Parks were last on our agenda. I somehow managed to walk out with HUGE Mickey hands/gloves and ears and began to wonder if deep down I wanted to be Mickey. Why did I get all this stuff? It was just so cute!

Day 9, Monday:
My Navy friend and I celebrated New Year's Eve just like the old days. It was a little late, but it didn't matter to us. We got so wasted on Sparking Grape Juice her fiance had to drive us around. Then it was back to the airport for me.

I'll sure miss this... But I'll miss this so much more...

A Dark Night for the Faint Heart

Confrontation is always difficult, but I had to know. I prepared for the shattering news as is my nature to brace myself for the worst, yet hoped to be proved wrong. I finally asked My Dawson if he was still interested. His answer was an earth-shattering no.

I have a BIG headache, but it's getting better. Tonight is improving by seeking out distractions. I just need time. Although I thought it would be so perfect, it wouldn't have because he's not the one for me regardless of how much I want to believe otherwise.

There's no turning back time. What's the point anyway? I'm happy with who I am today and I wouldn't be like this if the past was to change.

A New Year

So it's a New Year. Not only going from '05 to '06, but the Vietnamese New Year is coming up on Jan 29 as well. I thought this is a perfect time to rename my blog. Besides, Wilbert didn't want to leave his host. Who would, really?

Preparing for the Move


My dad has played such a huge part in me getting my first real job. He drove me to my first interview with the company as I slept all the way there, since I was exhausted from schoolwork. Then, he just helped me find the apartment I'll be moving to in February. We searched for 2 and a half days looking at about 14 apartments. The winner is shown in the picture above. It's about 2-3 miles from any place I need to go, such as movie theaters, grocery stores, and of course, shopping. It's a one bedroom, one bath, but don't worry there's plenty of space for visitors... you know who you are.

When I drove by the apartment to choose the carport I wanted, I noticed that the carport next to mine had a license plate holder that said "alumni... oklahoma state university." I think this is going to work out...
